About me

I'm H Taswell, a data scientist specializing in marketing analytics, machine learning, and AI, based in the US.

My work focuses on understanding customer behavior & marketing at scale: lifecycle modeling, churn prediction, multi-touch attribution, experimental design, and building predictive models that translate complex data into actionable business decisions. In previous roles at a major UK financial services firm and a global travel company, I developed ML models for high-value customer identification, customer journey optimization, and proactive retentionreducing email churn by 15% and replacing cold calling outreach through a cross-selling model that drove $2M+ in annualized incremental revenue.

Alongside my industry roles, I've worked with boutique clients as a freelance data scientist, building data infrastructure from the ground up, implementing customer segmentation models, and advising on personalized email campaign strategy — including decreasing cart abandonment by 12% through segmentation-driven email reminders and increasing email engagement by 300%. My early career as a VIP hospitality manager at events such as the Wimbledon Championships and the Rugby World Cup positions me with a comprehensive understanding of customer experience challenges from the ground up.

Beyond industry work, I'm an active researcher in AI safety, currently developing a technical paper on bias detection in LLMs for submission to peer-reviewed journals and conferences. I think rigorously about how AI systems behave when they fail, especially in high-stakes domains like finance.

My academic background spans Mathematics & Statistics (BSc), Data Science (MSc), International Management (PCert), a foundation that informs everything from the models I build to the research questions I pursue.

I'm open to roles across marketing data science, ML, and AI research.
